Farewell from the Invasive Animals CRC!

29/06/2017

The board, executive management team and all the staff at the Invasive Animals CRC (IA CRC) would like to say thank you to all those who have been involved and led its research program over the past decade.

On June 30, the IA CRC will come to an end but it is certainly not goodbye, and we look forward to new beginnings through the new Centre for Invasive Species Solutions, with many of the same faces being involved.

Over the past 12 years, the IA CRC  has undertaken some ambitious projects and has certainly delivered on its goal to combat the threats posed by invasive animals within Australia.

After a global search and more than five years of testing, the first new rabbit biocontrol agent in 20 years was released this year at more than 550 sites around the country, with success.

We were also pleased to see launched in 2016, the first complementary feral predator toxin (PAPP) made available on the commercial market, through two manufactured baits known as Foxecute and Dogabait.

Along with new tools delivered straight to the farm gate, our innovative research and extension programs have seen new and easy to access digital tools launched to assist land managers with monitoring pest animals on their land, and enhance education and knowledge on best practice pest animal management.

Since it's launch in March 2015, the PestSmart Connect website has had more than 1 million page views and our award winning FeralScan program has had it users record more than 70,000 pest animal sightings via the online system. All of which are improving outcomes for invasive animal management around Australia.

We look forward to what the future has in store and look forward to a continued relationship through the new research centre. Watch this space for future announcements!

Kind regards,
Helen Cathles, Chair IA CRC/IAL Governing Board and
Andreas Glanznig, Chief Executive, IA CRC/IAL
