PelGar receives Export Excellence in Asia Award

29/06/2017

PelGar International is delighted to announce that it is winner of the ‘Export Excellence in Asia Award’ for its export business to Asia in the UK Excellence Awards programme. The awards ceremony, held at the Grange Hotel, Tower Bridge London was attended by some 250 senior managers and directors and provided an excellent networking opportunity.

Hosted by the Global Trade Review (GTR) and The Manufacturer, the awards celebrate and commemorate the achievements of UK exporters and reward excellence across a range of sectors and geographical regions. The awards are judged by an independent panel of experts from some of the UK’s leading export-focussed institutions including the British Bankers Association, Institute of Export and International Trade, British Chambers of Commerce and the Trade Advisory Network. PelGar was entered in the category that recognizes the company that best demonstrates how it has increased its exports to, and sales within, Asia-Pacific. It needed to show its commitment to expanding within the region and the value and contribution that exporting to AsiaPacific can provide to the future of the business.

The selection process involved a written application followed by an interview and presentation on the company of PelGar’s business in Asia Pacific. This was undertaken by PelGar’s Regional Manager for Asia Pacific, Gerwyn Jones, who was on a business trip to Singapore and conducted the interview in a virtual meeting room.

As Gerwyn is based in New Zealand, Dr Gareth Capel-Williams attended the awards ceremony with his wife Paola as finalists in the awards programme. Not expecting to win the category

A fantastic achievement for Gerwyn and the whole PelGar team because this is recognition of team PelGar,” said Gareth

Asked how he felt about the award Gerwyn replied. “It is quite humbling to be recognized by an external industry body that looks at what we have done over the past couple of years and puts us at the top. We have a young but developing strategy for PelGar’s range of non-crop products in the Asia Pacific region with an established position in Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam and developing positions in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong.”
